Toxic-Chemical Insecticides and Pesticides
For the last fifty years, insecticides and pesticides have predominately been manufactured with toxic-chemicals. There is an increased awareness in the dangers of these toxic-chemicals and consumers are looking for safer alternatives to use around the home.
Toxic-chemical insecticides and pesticides are designed to attack the nervous system. They irreversibly inactivate acetylcholinesterase, which is essential to nerve function. These toxic-chemical products are non-selective and are not able to limit the neurotoxins to just insects. These products can affect humans, pets, many other animals, beneficial insects, as well as the ground water which ultimately affects the food chain and drinking water.
Toxic-chemical products tend to degrade rapidly upon exposure to sunlight, air, and soil, resulting in repeated applications and dangerous overuse.
Toxic-chemical products cannot penetrate an insect's egg layer in most cases. Insects multiply at rates far beyond comprehension. For every adult mosquito, approximately another 100 mosquitoes are in the egg and larva stage.
Cedar as a Natural Insect Repellent
Throughout history, cedar has been known to effectively repel insects naturally. Ancient Egyptians built tombs and coffins of cedar and traces of cedar oil have been found in the mummification process. This is probably why even today we are accustomed to using cedar products, such as closets, chests, hangers and other cedar wood products.
For over 10 years, a team of biochemist, horticulturist, biologist, entomologist, chemist, ecologist, formulators, researchers, professors and botanist have contributed to the development of MQ7. There are close to 390 species of cedar. Not all of them have the natural insect repellency properties. Furthermore, not all the components within cedar have the insect repellency properties. We have identified the very few components within a specific cedar species that have the ultimate repellency property. We take the cedar oil and scientifically modify it to intensify these components. Then, we take other plant based ingredients and homogenize the components to come up with our highly concentrated proprietary formulation of MQ7.
Additional Benefits
Beneficial Insects: Most beneficial insects such as ladybugs and butterflies are not affected because they tend to rely on their sense of sight rather than smell.
Long Lasting: When an area is treated with MQ7, insects have no choice but to retreat. The encapsulated formula is very slow to decompose, forming a barrier to prevent insect re-entry. The repelling effects remain long after the cedar scent is detectable by human senses.
Green Product: MQ7 is safe to use around children and pets because it contains no toxic-chemicals. MQ7 helps keep our earth green by not contaminating our ground water and ultimately our food chain and drinking water.
